Introduction

A WHO sponsored project entitled “Development of Siddha Treatment Guidelines for selected Diseases” has been sanctioned to National Institute of Siddha and commenced the project activities on 01.10.08 and expected to complete by 31st march 2009.

The template of this project was finalized in a preliminary meeting held on 13.10.08.  This committee suggested to study 30 commonly reported diseases.  A total of 4 experts and 16 local participants had participated the preliminary meeting to finalized the template and diseases for developing guidelines.

Dr.S.Boopathiraj Director, NIS is the Principle Investigator for this WHO project.

The working group constitutes three working members (Dr. D. Velayudham M.D(S); Medical officer, Dr. P. Selva Shanmugam M.S.(S) Ph.D; Medical officer, Dr. P. Hemalatha M.D.(S) Medical officer; NIS).  One Senior Research Fellow and a Data Entry Operator have been recruited for this project.
