MoU on 26-2-2010
A Memorandum of
Understanding between National Institute of Siddha and Sri
Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai has been signed by
Prof.Dr.K.Manickavasakam, Director i/c., and Dr.S.Rangaswami Vice
Chancellor, Sri Ramachandra University on 26-2-2010 at Sri
Ramachandra Univeristy in presence of Dr.T.K.Parthasarathy, Pro
Chancellor, Prof.S.P.Thyagarajan, Pro Chancellor (Research),
Dr.K.Somasundaram, Dean from Sri Ramachandra University and
Prof.Dr.R.S.Ramawamy, Research Co-ordinator / HOD, Sirappu
Maruthuvam, Shri.M.Subramanian, Senior Research Officer (Statistics)
and Dr.V.Mahadevan Lecturer from National Institute of Siddha,
Chennai.
Sri Ramachandra
University (SRU) is one of the premier medical educational and
research institutions in India focusing on teaching and research in
medical and allied health sciences, besides providing health care
services on international standard through its hospitals and whereas
the SRU has fully equipped laboratories, workshops and hi-tech
research facilities and air-conditioned state-of-the-art library and
computer centres; and whereas SRU is having collaborative tie-up
with various national institutions such as Department of Science and
Technology, Department of Biotechnology,
Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, National Environmental
Engineering Research Institute, National Metallurgical Laboratory
and international institutions such as Harvard Medical
International, University of Wisconsin, USA to promote academic and
research collaboration in the areas of mutual interest with a view
to benefit the student community, faculty and the society at large.
The Memorandum of
Understanding envisage conduct of collaborative research work using
the good laboratory support exists in Centre for Toxicology &
Developmental Research, Sri Ramachandra University to study the
safety and efficacy of Siddha Medicine using the animal model. The
strength of Siddha Medicine in treating non-communicable diseases
and life-style disorder could be integrated with modern medicine by
launching a joint venture studies in such a reputed hospital. It
also facilitate in organizing national level workshop, seminar and
conference for propagating and promoting Siddha medicine. It thus
becomes, pioneering effort in public private partnership to
strengthen the validation process of Siddha medicine and develop
scientific benchmarks efficiently.
