Institute of Siddha and National Institute of Epidemiology signed
MoU on 12-5-2010


A Memorandum of
Understanding between National Institute of Siddha and National
Institute of Epidemiology,Chennai has been signed on 12th
May 2010 by Prof.Dr.K.Manickavasakam, Director i/c., and
Dr.V.Kumaraswami, Director i/c, National Institute of Epidemiology
at National Institute of Epidemiology in presence of
Prof.Dr.M.Murugesan, Dean, Prof.Dr.M.Logamanian, Shri.M.Subramanian,
Senior Research Officer (Statistics) from NIS and Dr.B.Nagaraj,
Scientist F and Dr.Manickam, Scientist B from National Institute of
Epidemiology Chennai.
National Institute
of Epidemiology (NIE), Chennai [an institution of the Indian Council
of Medical Research (ICMR) in the Department of Health Research,
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India], has a
mandate to develop the science of epidemiology and support capacity
building in the service of public health in the form of teaching and
training in public health under the auspices of ICMR Schools of
Public Health and to undertake various operational and
service-oriented research activities including clinical trials, in
India.
The Memorandum of
Understanding envisage conduct of joint research & development
projects in the areas of clinical trials and Siddha-oriented
epidemiological studies, training and organizing and participating
in Joint Symposia / Conferences / Workshops / Short-term courses
conducted by both the organisations.
